Arrive in Bali
You’ll be met by your guide at the airport and transferred to your eco-lodge nestled high on the eastern slopes of Mt Batukaru, Bali’s second tallest volcano.
The rest of the day is at leisure.
Overnight at the Bali Mountain Retreat.
Cycling, Hot Springs and Rice
Head out from the lodge on a mostly downhill ride along scenic roads, through traditional villages and plantations. Stop at Yeh Panas Hot Springs for a picnic lunch and a dip in the relaxing springs. Total riding time is between 3 – 4 hours.
Drive to Jatiluwih, Bali’s iconic rice terraces for an incredible panoramic view over the subak style rice farming. A stop is made on the way back to your eco-lodge at one of Bali’s nicest but least visited temples, Batukaru Temple.
Overnight at the Bali Mountain Retreat.
Jungle Trekking
This 3 – 4 hour jungle mountain forest walk in the Batukaru Nature Reserve is perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in the lush, green natural beauty of Bali’s interior. The protected flora and fauna encountered here is among the most diverse and abundant anywhere on the island.
After lunch at the resort drive through scenic roads and stunning rice fields to the West Coast. On reaching Pekutatan in the late afternoon, you’ll be able to enjoy the sunset from the beach.
Overnight at the Puri Dajuma Beach Eco Resort.
Turtle Conservation and Mangrove Kayaking
Leaving your resort after breakfast, visit Rambut Siwi Sea Temple on the way to the turtle conservation project located at Pekutatan. From here it’s a short walk to the nearby port for a look at the colourful phinisi, hand crafted wooden ships built in Sulawesi.
Continue the drive along the north coast and into the West Bali National Park where The Menjangan expansive resort is located. After lunch explore the surrounding mangroves on a 2 hour kayaking tour of the area’s natural highlights.
Overnight at The Menjangan
Snorkelling at Menjangan Island
Arguably the best snorkelling in Bali is found at Menjangan Island where there’s an abundance of tropical fish and coral reefs. A picnic lunch is provided.
The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy the resort.
Overnight at The Menjangan
A Monastery and Lakes
Leaving The Menjangan drive along the coast to Munduk, stopping along the way at Bali’s only Buddhist Monastery, with stunning views over the north coast. After lunch at Munduk at The View Restaurant, drive inland to Bedugal, stopping at the ‘Twin Lakes’ viewpoint overlooking Lake Tamblingan and Lake Buyan.
Visit the often photographed Ulun Danu Temple, located on the lake, gives the impression that it’s floating before a stop at a local market and afterwards, your new lodgings for the night.
Overnight at the Bali Eco Village in Sidan
Trekking to the Sekumpul Watterfal
After breakfast drive to the start of your trekking experience to the Sekumpul Waterfalls. It’s a 4 hour trek across remote rice fields, plantations and natural pools where you can take a dip to cool off. The trek concludes at the 50 metre waterfal, before heading down a flight of stairs through the jungle to a village where you’ll be picked up.
Overnight at the Bali Eco Village
Coffee
Meet the farmers and learn about the coffee making process in the lush village of Kiadan in Pelaga. You’ll come to understand the process from picking, drying, roasting and grinding beans to plantation management in general.
A simple local lunch will be provided before travelling to the volcanic region of Kintamani for a coffee break overlooking Mt Batur. Then it’s just over an hours drive to Sidemen Valley where you’ll be staying the night.
Overnight at Darmada Eco Resort
Farmer for the Day
Talk and walk your way through the village’s rice fields and step into the shoes of a local Balinese farmer. Try ploughing rice with a water buffalo and planting rice seedlings. You’ll also take part in four short 20 minute workshops – a cooking lesson, palm leaf decoration, arak distillation and iron working, before a Balinese lunch is prepared for you.
Drive an hour to Besakih Temple, the ‘Mother Temple’ of Bali, located on the western slopes of the active Mount Agung.
