Day by Day
Welcome to Vietnam! You’re met at Da Nang airport by your guide and driven about 50 minutes to Hoi An. Once a major trading port in the 17th and 18th centuries, Hoi An is one of Vietnam’s most picturesque towns and is UNESCO World Heritage-listed. The rest of the day is free.
Meals: None today
At 8.30 am, meet your local guide for a half-day walk through the old town and its remarkably well-preserved merchant houses. Stop at the Japanese Bridge, built more than 400 years ago to link the Japanese and Chinese communities, and a colourful Chinese assembly house, where you can hang an incense coil and write a wish. Explore the quieter lanes, then relax with a tea tasting.
Around 2.30 pm you’re collected for a gentle bike ride. A short boat ride takes you across the Thu Bon River to the delta islands, where you cycle past rice fields (seasonal) to family workshops making pearl-inlaid wood carvings, round thúng chai basket boats and traditional sedge mats, before returning to Hoi An. The evening is free.
Meals: Breakfast
Spend the morning with Duc Tran, one of Central Vietnam’s best-known chefs. He’s the man behind Hoi An’s Mango Mango, Mango Rooms and Mai Fish, and has appeared on many international cooking and travel programmes.
At 9 am, a local guide takes you through a market to see the region’s produce, from farm to sea (Duc doesn’t join this part). Then head to Duc’s rural home and cooking studio for a private demonstration, followed by lunch he prepares himself. The afternoon is free.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch
An early transfer of about 50 minutes takes you to Da Nang station to board the Vietage, Vietnam’s most upmarket train. For about 6.5 hours, sit back with a three-course meal and free-flowing drinks as the train follows the historic railway built in the French colonial era, past rice fields and spectacular coastline.
On arrival at Dieu Tri station you’re driven about 30 minutes to your villa. Quy Nhon is still relatively undiscovered: long beaches, rocky headlands, secluded bays, fishing villages and ancient Cham towers. The rest of the day is free.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch
Two free days to enjoy your private pool and the beach, or arrange local excursions through the resort (at your own cost).
Meals: Breakfast daily
The morning is free before you check out and transfer about an hour to Phu Cat airport for your onward flight.
